Century College TRIO Upward Bound
Century College TRIO Upward Bound is a federally funded, year-round pre-college support program for high school students who desire to pursue post-secondary education. Students accepted into Upward Bound must be from limited-income families and/or families whose parents have not completed a four-year degree. These conditions are set by the U.S. Department of Education, which provides funding for the program. Students are admitted to the program based on the student’s eligibility to participate in the program, the student’s desire to pursue a post-secondary education, the student’s current academic performance, and the number of available spaces for the student’s school.In partnership with the St. Paul Public School District 625 and the North St. Paul, Maplewood, and Oakdale School District 622, the Century College TRIO Upward Bound program serves the following target high schools: Como Park High School, Harding High School, Johnson High School, North High School.

Program Eligibility Requirements
Before completing this application, applicants must plan to attend or currently attend one of the target high schools.

As a federally-funded program, Century College Upward Bound is required to collect academic and personal information about its program participants. All information collected by Upward Bound is strictly confidential and protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). However, the U.S. Department of Education has the authority to gather general statistics about program participants in order to improve and measure the success of this program.
Century College Upward Bound will use student information to track individual academic progress, assess individual needs in relation to academic success and college preparedness to align individual services and program curriculum with both student needs and required grant outcomes. Information gathered for measuring program effectiveness in terms of meeting grant objectives include: GPA, standardized test passing status, program retention, successful completion of a rigorous course curriculum, high school graduation, postsecondary enrollment, and degree attainment.
